Weapons
5 primary weapons, each with a unique moveset and upgrade path
Nightstar
The Nightstar is a chain mace/flail that serves as one of Mina's starting weapons. Its chain-based design provides extended reach compared to melee weapons, allowing Mina to strike enemies from a safer distance. The flail head swings in an arc, making it effective for hitting multiple enemies in a wide sweep.
The range advantage makes the Nightstar an excellent choice for players who prefer to keep their distance while maintaining aggressive offense. Its sweeping arc also helps when surrounded by enemies.
Whisper and Vesper
Whisper and Vesper are a pair of dual daggers available from the start. These fast-striking weapons prioritize speed over raw damage, allowing Mina to deliver rapid consecutive hits. The dual-wielding nature means attacks alternate between the two daggers, creating a flurry of strikes.
The high attack speed synergizes well with the Plasma health system, as more hits mean faster health regeneration. The daggers are ideal for aggressive players who want to maximize their time on the offensive.
Blaststrike Maul
The Blaststrike Maul is a heavy hammer available from the start. It trades speed for raw power, dealing significant damage per hit. The hammer's charged attack is particularly notable, as it grants invincibility frames during the charge-up and swing animation.
The invincibility frames on the charged attack make the Maul a defensive tool as well as an offensive one. Time your charges to tank through enemy attacks while delivering devastating blows.
Hollower's Shield
The Hollower's Shield is an unlockable weapon that provides defensive capabilities alongside offensive options. As a shield, it can be used to parry incoming attacks, creating openings for counter-attacks. The parry mechanic rewards precise timing with a devastating riposte.
The Shield's upgrade, Shield Toss, adds a ranged attack option, transforming the defensive tool into a versatile offensive weapon as well.
Battery Buster
The Battery Buster is an unlockable blaster weapon that provides ranged combat capabilities. Unlike the other melee-focused weapons, the Battery Buster allows Mina to engage enemies from a distance, adding a new dimension to combat strategy.
The Charge Shot upgrade enables a powerful ranged attack that likely deals increased damage and may have special properties such as piercing or area-of-effect damage.
Sidearms
Sub-weapons that consume Joules and are lost on death
Gyro Dagger Confirmed
When thrown, the Gyro Dagger arcs outward and then curves back to Mina like a boomerang, striking enemies multiple times as it spins. A neat trick: you can hit the returning dagger to send it flying toward enemies again, effectively juggling it for extra damage.
Volt Hatchet Confirmed
The Volt Hatchet releases a shock wave on impact, making it potent against groups of foes bunched together. Its thrown trajectory also lets you clear enemies from behind walls or exploit elevated positions for extra reach.
Iron Steed Unconfirmed Name
A unique sidearm that summons a bicycle equipped with a lance. The Iron Steed provides a speed boost and lance charge attack, allowing Mina to rush through enemies with piercing damage.
Small Ghost Unconfirmed Name
Summons a small ghost companion that assists Mina in combat. The ghost likely attacks enemies independently, providing additional DPS and potentially distracting enemies from targeting Mina.
Chained Demon Pet Unconfirmed Name
A demon chained to Mina that attacks nearby enemies. The Chained Demon Pet provides constant companion damage and may have a wider attack range than the Small Ghost, making it effective against grouped enemies.
Trinkets
Equippable accessories -- up to 5 slots available
Ferrying Wisp
Allows Mina to float during jumps, greatly extending air time and horizontal distance. Essential for reaching hidden areas and navigating platforming challenges.
Confirmed NamePrototype Spark
Grants Mina an automatic revival upon taking lethal damage. Functions similarly to an extra life, allowing you to survive a fatal hit with remaining health.
Unconfirmed NameWall Cling
Enables Mina to cling to vertical surfaces, opening up new exploration paths and providing additional defensive positioning options during combat.
Unconfirmed NameExtended Burrow
Increases the distance and/or duration of Mina's burrow ability, allowing for longer underground movement and more flexible dodging.
Unconfirmed NameLong Jump
Increases Mina's jump distance, making it easier to cross gaps and reach platforms that would otherwise be inaccessible.
Unconfirmed NameAttack Multiplier
Grants increasing damage bonuses for consecutive hits on the same target. Rewards sustained aggression and synergizes well with fast weapons like Whisper and Vesper.
Unconfirmed NameElectric Shock
Adds an electric effect to Mina's attacks, potentially stunning or damaging nearby enemies when the primary target is hit.
Unconfirmed NameKiller Bug
Summons insects that attack nearby enemies, providing additional passive damage. The insects may target enemies automatically, adding DPS without requiring player input.
Unconfirmed NameLightning Strike
Periodically summons lightning strikes that hit enemies in the area. Provides supplemental damage and may have synergy with certain area themes like Septemburg.
Unconfirmed NameHealth Boost
Increases Mina's maximum health pool, providing more room for error in combat. A solid choice for difficult boss fights or when exploring dangerous areas.
Unconfirmed NameOther Items
Consumables, currency, and key items
Keygears
Universal keys used to unlock doors and gates throughout Tenebrous Isle. Keygears open paths to new areas and secret rooms. Explore thoroughly and break objects to find them.
Joule Jars
Consumable items that replenish Joules, the resource consumed by Sidearms. Carry Joule Jars when you plan to use Sidearms frequently, especially during boss fights.
Bones
The primary currency and experience points of the game. Bones are earned by defeating enemies and are used to purchase items from shops and upgrade Mina's abilities at Underlabs. Bones are lost on death unless protected by a Spark.
Sparks
Extra lives that prevent Bone loss upon death. When Mina dies with a Spark active, she revives without losing her accumulated Bones. Sparks are invaluable for learning difficult boss encounters risk-free.
Plasma Vials
The healing system of Mina the Hollower. Mina has a yellow Plasma bar that fills by attacking enemies. Once full, it converts into red health. This system rewards aggressive play -- the more you attack, the more you heal. Similar to the glory kill system in DOOM 2016.
