About the Game
Mina the Hollower is a top-down action RPG developed by Yacht Club Games, the creators of the critically acclaimed Shovel Knight series. Players control Mina, a Hollower who must venture into the depths of Tenebrous Isle to recover stolen spark generators.
The game features a unique burrow mechanic that lets Mina travel underground, dodge attacks, discover secrets, and launch devastating aerial pop-up strikes. With its fully non-linear world, souls-inspired progression system, and extensive accessibility options, Mina the Hollower offers a deeply rewarding experience for players of all skill levels.
Set on the gothic Tenebrous Isle, the game draws heavy inspiration from classic Game Boy titles like The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Castlevania, blending retro aesthetics with modern game design sensibilities.
Getting Started
Quick tips to begin your adventure on the right foot
Master the Burrow
The burrow is your primary dodge, traversal tool, and combat opener. Practice underground movement and pop-up attacks early -- they are essential throughout the entire game.
Explore Freely
Tenebrous Isle is fully non-linear. You can tackle any of the 7 areas in any order. If you're stuck, try a different area and come back stronger.
Visit Underlabs Often
Underlabs serve as save points and upgrade hubs. Resting respawns enemies but lets you spend Bones on upgrades. Use Sparks to protect your Bones if you're worried about dying.
Read the Newspaper
The in-game newspaper in Ossex contains valuable hints and lore. Check it regularly for clues about secrets, shop updates, and area directions.
Use Difficulty Modifiers
Don't hesitate to use the extensive assist options if you're stuck. The game is designed to be enjoyed -- there's no shame in adjusting difficulty to match your skill level.
Manage Your Bones
Bones are your currency and XP. You lose them on death (unless you have a Spark). Spend them wisely between upgrades and shop purchases.
